Warranty and Car Insurance Advice Sought After GM and Chrysler Bankruptcies


With both GM and Chrysler filing bankruptcy it has caused consumers to question whether or not their auto insurance is still valid. Worries stem from the conception that their vehicles covered under GM or Chryslers insurance companies are no longer going to be able to provide insurance for their customers are will drop coverage. In addition many questions have arisen whether or not their warranties are still valid after bankruptcy.
Steve Harris, General Motors' vice president of global communications, is assuring everybody that the warranties will be honored both with the companies backing. Furthermore the government's Warranty Commitment Plan that was announced in March to make sure that owner’s of General Motors and Chrysler vehicles are able to still get warranty work done during company restructurings.
Fortunately for most, they carry their insurance through a major insurance company and do not run the risk of being dropped by their carriers, and should expect no changes to their existing policies. Although these two major corporations filed for bankruptcy you should not see any changes or have any problems with honoring your warranty, keeping your vehicle insured, or payments on your loan. These companies are restructuring, not going obsolete.
