4 of 5. How to Meditate, Yoga, Meditation

www.encognitive.com Meditation has been defined as “self regulation of attention, in the service of self-inquiry, in the here and now.”[5] The various techniques of meditation can be classified according to their focus. Some focus on the field or background perception and experience, also called “mindfulness;” others focus on a preselected specific object, and are called “concentrative” meditation. There are also techniques that shift between the field and the object.[6] In mindfulness meditation, the meditator sits comfortably and silently, centering attention by focusing awareness on an object or process (either the breath, a sound: a mantra, koan or riddle evoking questions; a visualisation, or an exercise). The meditator is usually encouraged to maintain an open focus: … shifting freely from one perception to the next clear your mind of all that bothers you no thoughts that can distract you from reality or your personal being… No thought, image or sensation is considered an intrusion. The meditator, with a ‘no effort’ attitude, is asked to remain in the here and now. Using the focus as an ‘anchor’… brings the subject constantly back to the present, avoiding cognitive analysis or fantasy regarding the contents of awareness, and increasing tolerance and relaxation of secondary thought processes.[6] Concentration meditation is used in most religions and spiritual practices. Whereas in mindfulness meditation there is an open focus, in concentration meditation the

    @bigb47 it depends of the person and the technic! for eg. I’ve had many astral projections, but never did any meditation. it came spontaneously to me. though,I guess that’s why all the wisdom missed me lol
    beside meditation, there are separate technics for awakening your third eye and practices for astral project. google it a bit. you’ll find bunch of stuffs…
    also try: Awakening the Third Eye by Breath of Fire – on YouTube
    and don’t give up like most do! it’s not going to happen over night!

  • LadyLiaRose:

    @Homemad3 if you’re doing the right thing, not too long. try some other things then just meditation, that can only do you good and fasten things up a bit… if you have any questions on how just ask, I’ll be glad to help. that goes for anyone…

  • bigb47:

    @LadyLiaRose thanks!

  • ruboi:

    so why dont we all do it to become better beings #imjustsaying

  • confederateyankeegir:

    To the contrary, it is very important to stay IN your body. Otherwise your own Divine Spirit can get kicked out to some degree and other energies can come in and take its place. (If you’re not at home, who IS?)

    @internetwraith While under the influence of cannabis, I found that it would be much easier achieving a meditative state.

  • killu19:

    @Mist9879 You are incorrect.

  • jmminu:

    @internetwraith It doesn’t feel anything like it.When you’re stoned you cannot have clear perception. Your mind just doesn’t feel clear.That’s why we use the word stoned. When you are in a deep meditative state, everything becomes very clear.You enter a new dimension in your ability to connect with the universe and to perceive. Cannabis alters mind function just enough to ease your way into a meditative state. But the cost is high.You lose your ability to get there.The channels get shut down.

  • Felderos:

    @jmminu You lose no “abilities” to get anywhere, humans have the potential to do anything, ANYTHING. Cannabis increases the amount of thoughts in your head while making the thoughts way less (as in making you forget/think about something else) So, will cannabis slow the process of true meditation? Probably. It would be more beneficial and easier to meditate with a “clear mind”, but never say that your ability to connect to the universe is lost.

  • Felderos:

    @internetwraith thumbs up for vapor!!!

  • ruzickaw:

    astral body is just a fiction. We dont need it. This body is enough. Descover it.
    The strange body feelings are just passing sensations.

  • aumnamashivaya4:

    so, it has to be 3rd eye opening first and then Astral travelling later? is it possible to astral travel first?

  • iNestor93:

    smoking weed is the the safest form of self meditation..i smoke then meditate..makes the expirience so much better,,

  • coramichelle:

    @internetwraith I have a meditation teacher that once said meditating is like opening a door, while drugs are like breaking the window…also self control is what meditation is about…if you use something else, there’s no discipline achieved and your “enlightenment” may be illusionary and not a real journey of your higher self. Just my opinion :)
