Both are a VERY long way from Aspen. Colorado Springs is almost 4 hrs away from Aspen, and Fort Collins is around 4 and a half hrs to Aspen. Neither are very close.
Grand Junction is around 2 hrs away and is cheaper to live in.
Denver is 3 and a half hrs away. Glenwood Springs is only 40 minutes away and is really nice, not anywhere as expensive as Aspen or Snowmass nearby.
My cousin from Tennessee had a temporary job in Aspen. She had to stay in Glenwood Springs, but it is only 40 minutes away. I drive that much just to get to work in Denver every day. It might be rough during the winter, but it is probably doable.
    Good luck!

  • i don't know:

from Ft. Collins to Aspen, it’s about 4 1/2 hours and from Colorado Springs to Aspen it is 3 hours 50 minutes

  • jweber560:

Simply put, they are way way too far for a commute. If there his job is in Aspen you will not want to reside in Colorado Springs or Ft. Collins.

‘jweber’ gave you the best answer. Look at the map below to visualize the relationship between the 3 cities. Aspen is usually way too expensive to live in…most folks who work there live in Glenwood Springs or one of the in-between small towns. One big problem with working in Aspen is being able to find affordable housing nearby..

  • CO will be blue in November!:

They are quite far apart. Aspen in on the western side of the Rocky Mountains while both Fort Collins and The Springs are on the eastern side. It can take about 5-6 hours to drive from Ft Collins to Aspen while it can take 2 hours to just fly over there.

You should check out Carbondale; it’s only 20 minutes north of Aspen and is such a pleasant mountain town to visit.
